Getting your bunny “fixed” - which is called spaying (for girls) or neutering (for boys) - is important for your bunny’s health and happiness. Why?

  • Avoid unexpected rabbit litters. It can be hard to determine a rabbit’s sex when they’re young. Often new bunny owners think they have two girls or two boys and are surprised that they have a boy/girl pair!

  • Spay/neutering helps prevent certain types of cancer in both male and female rabbits.

  • It lowers rabbits’ hormone levels, which increases the chance they’ll bond peacefully with a rabbit companion.

  • Spay/neutering reduces behaviors like spraying and marking and often improves litter box habits.

Worried about the cost spay/neutering? It’s a great reason to adopt a rescue bunny! Almost all rescue groups (including Sunshine) and many city shelters only adopt out bunnies who have already been spay/neutered and vaccinated. Think of how much money, time, and stress you save by rescuing a bunny instead of buying one from a breeder!

Where to go for spay/neuter in the greater LA area?

We often hear from rabbit owners who would like to get their bunny fixed but can’t find a rabbit-savvy vet who does spay/neuter. Spay/neuter can also be expensive!

To help, we’ve put together this partial list of vets in the greater Los Angeles (LA, Long Beach, Orange County, Pasadena, & more) who do spay/neuter for rabbits.

We’ve included spay/neuter prices so you can compare vets based on overall affordability. Spay/neuter prices are always estimates, since factors like your rabbit’s age, size, and overall health can shift the exact cost of the procedure. Please contact the vet offices for an accurate estimate.

Friendly note: We hope this list will be helpful. However, inclusion on this list doesn’t constitute an endorsement from Sunshine. We encourage you to do your own research about rabbit vets, to make sure you feel comfortable with you bun’s care.
