The info below is for volunteers ages 18+. Kids can also help the bunnies! Children ages 5-11 are invited to join our Junior Rescue Crew program. Kids ages 12+ are welcome at our Veg with Bunnies sessions, to help socialize adoptable rabbits.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Sunshine Rabbit Center! Volunteers serve so many valuable roles and help us accomplish our mission of rescuing rabbits and supporting the local rabbit community.

We love that you want to help the rescue bunnies! Here are some helpful things to know about volunteering with us. If volunteering at Sunshine sounds right for you, please fill out the interest form below. We’ll get in touch via email to sign you up for our next monthly volunteer info session.

• Bunny experience is appreciated! It’s not required that you own a rabbit or have worked with rabbits in the past, but we love to see that.

• There are many roles for volunteers. Some include: daily care for our adoptable rabbits, helping keep the Sunshine facility clean, assisting with events and outreach, and driving for medical transports.

• Volunteers must be 18 or older. This is for the safety of both the rabbits and the volunteers. Thank you for understanding!

• Volunteers undergo training & commit to ongoing service. We recognize that some volunteers have more availability than others, and that’s totally ok. But, since we invest time into training volunteers, we ask for a 3+ month volunteer commitment. For that reason, volunteering at Sunshine isn’t right for individuals looking to fulfill a specific number of hours for school programs, class credits, or other legal requirements.

• Working with bunnies gets messy! We appreciate that volunteers may have different personal strengths and physical abilities. However, volunteering in-person with Sunshine is not a good fit for those with allergies to rabbits or hay, those who may struggle with strong smells like litter boxes, and those who require considerable additional support from the Sunshine staff to perform volunteer responsibilities.

• Extra perk! Volunteers get 10% off in our shop full of bunny supplies and cute bunny items after their shifts on the days they work.
